Happy New Year from all of us at Old Bridge Cellars! We hope your festive season was filled with joy, good company and great wine. As the year kicks off, we’ve been diving back into the Old Bridge mayhem...the pop-up Friday bakery is back, we’ve wrapped up our BIG 2025 planning session and our weekly tastings are gearing up to start from next week.
This year, we’re putting a major spotlight on Wine Education! We’re thrilled to welcome School of Wine Perth to the Old Bridge fold as they host WSET’s Level 2 Award in Wines. Plus, we’re pleased to see the Wine Education Centre return with their popular Wine Essentials Course and other fun, educational wine events throughout the year (sneak peek...Champagne and Chablis masterclasses will be the first events locked in the diary for the year).

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines - a new course for Old Bridge - is a globally recognised qualification designed for both wine enthusiasts and industry professionals. Perfect for beginners or those with basic wine knowledge, no prior completion of Level 1 is required.
This course dives into the world’s key grape varieties, their regions and the diverse styles of wine they produce. Through a blend of theory and guided tastings, you’ll gain the skills to confidently describe wines, understand the factors that influence their style and quality, and expand your appreciation of global wine culture.
WSET 2 is an eight week course hosted at ...by Old Bridge on Monday evenings. This first semester kicks off Monday 3rd February and culminates with a 50-question multiple choice exam on Monday 31st March. $920/head (10% discount for Old Bridge customers - discount code FREOWSET).
As many of you already know, the Wine Education Centre is the educational arm of the Wines of Western Australia. It is the prime provider of wine education for consumers and trade in WA. It has been providing quality wine education for well over 40 years.
The Wine Essentials Course provides the necessary information for all wine enthusiasts who are looking to increase their wine knowledge and approach to tasting. It is also an appropriate course for those about to enter the wine trade.
The Wine Essentials Course is held over four consecutive weeks, the course covers six wines per session. We are hosting this course in both Como and North Fremantle. Como course commences Monday 10th Feb and North Freo Tuesday 11th Feb. $395/head.
