OLD PIGGY GOES TO THE (CRAFT BEER) MARKET

Three powerhouse WA brands have teamed up to release one of the first craft beer collaborations of the year, Old Piggy Pale - a double dry hopped Pale Ale that is absolutely brimming with flavour.

North Fremantle-based Old Bridge Cellars and Piggy Food Co along with Jindong-based Rocky Ridge Brewing Co are set to bring the ‘Old Piggy’ to the craft beer market in early Feb.

The collaboration beer will launch online with a pre-sale special on Wednesday 18th January, at $24.99 per 4-pack. Any online pre-sale purchase made ahead of the official launch date will receive a complimentary pork or fried avocado taco at Piggy Food Co.

Nostalgia is in full swing with this collaboration, with the crew also slinging free beers and other prizes to those that roll high scores in the iconic game, Pass the Pigs where pigs are rolled as dice.

A ‘double snouter’ will score you a free 4-pack of Old Piggy Pale, while a simple ‘sider’ will nab you a stubby holder, every roll wins! Any 4-pack purchased online or in store gives you one chance to roll while in store for the tasting at Old Bridge Cellars North Fremantle or Como (strictly 18+, while stocks last).

Beer nerds will enjoy the heavy-handed hop combination of Galaxy, Ella, Mosaic T90 and Mosaic Lupomaxx which provide intense hop saturation and flavours of passionfruit, red berries, melon and sparkling citrus. A full and rounded body is supplied by copious amounts of oats, triticale, pale and chit malt.

Rocky Ridge Brewing Co Founder & Managing Director, Hamish Coates said the collab beer is easy drinking but equally complex, Old Piggy is a modern pale ale that doesn't sacrifice drinkability.

"We are stoked to team up with the crew from Old Bridge and Piggy Food Co. All of us share a love for great beer and good times so it was a no brainer to join forces. This beer won't last long so get some while you can,” said Mr Coates.

The beer will officially hit the market on Thursday 9th February with a tasting at Old Bridge Cellars Como, followed by a tasting on Friday 10th February at Old Bridge Cellars North Freo between 4pm - 7pm.
