There are many wine publications and critics across the world who share their educated opinions on various wines, vintages and regions. Not many hold quite as much gravitas as James Suckling, a prominent wine critic and journalist known for his extensive contribution to the world of wine.
At the end of last year, James Suckling awarded Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle Iteration N.26 a perfect 100/100 after reviewing almost 39,000 wines and as well as naming it 'Wine of the Year'. An impressive accomplishment for one of our favourite Champagne houses.

For the uninitiated, Laurent-Perrier stands out among other maisons because of its approach to vintage. While some winemakers celebrate the virtues of a single vintage, Laurent-Perrier holds the belief that genuine excellence arises from the art of assemblage — the skillful blending of multiple vintages.
Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle Iteration N.26 is a beautiful combination of wine from 2012 (65%), 2008 (25%) and 2007 (10%), a blend of three exceptional years that complement each other.
Made from 58% Chardonnay and 42% Pinot Noir, the resulting wine has a complex nose which mixes honeysuckle, lemon, clementine and fresh butter aromas, followed by notes of hazelnuts and a touch of honey. The palate is delicate, silky and mineral with a persistent bead.
We know this price point isn't for everyone, and given we only have a handful of bottles to share that might be a good thing. One thing's for sure, we can all appreciate the art form that is French Champagne!
