If you're not familiar with this wine, Lonely Shore is the passion project of Liam Carmody, Head Winemaker at Forest Hill, inspired by his time in California and a deep love of Pinot Noir. The vineyard, located in Manjimup, was established in 1996, with Lonely Shore taking over in 2015. The fruit is handpicked, cold soaked and fermented in two parcels. When stems are ripe, a whole bunch component is fermented separately. It is then basket pressed, with gravity movement used as much as possible. The wine spends 8 months in French oak (10% new) and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

The 2024 release is elegant, poised and bursting with vibrant fruit and a hint of spice, all wrapped in the signature core of sweet richness that makes Lonely Shore a fan favourite year after year. While the 2023 vintage was defined by finesse and delicacy, Manjimup’s warm, dry season has given the 2024 release greater depth and concentration. A vivid deep magenta hue leads into lifted aromas of black cherry compote, vanilla bean, rose oil and warm earth, while the palate is dense and full of wild rapsberry, with hints of anise, and garam spice. Silky graphite tannins and bright natural acidity drive a long, compelling finish—showcasing exactly why this region’s Pinot stands out.

As mentioned, the stunning wave photography is a highlight for us each year. Check out some of the previous vintages below...we really wish we'd be saving this wine each year. Perhaps you can start now?! Happy shopping.
